  • Meet Shil

    The Chatterchief

Shil Shanghavi is a TEDx Speaker and a Speaker Coach for TEDxPerth.

Shil thrives under the pressure of doing what most people are afraid of - public speaking. Having felt the fear himself, it holds a special personal significance. His experience of living with a lifelong stutter is part of the reason he has dedicated his career to helping others overcome the anxiety he once struggled with.

Having presented numerous talks across a range of subjects, Shil is motivated to help people overcome their fear of public speaking and has developed a simple, powerful toolkit to assist with the process.

With a diverse employment history in retail, fast moving consumer goods and corporate sectors that have required their fair share of nerve-racking presentations and speaking obligations, he knows exactly how to harness the fear by using an array of techniques to develop confidence and ensure the delivery of a compelling performance.

Some of Shil’s recent speaking engagements include delivering workshops for recognisable brands and organisations such as UBER and Edith Cowan University (ECU). Crafting and delivering speeches on a variety of contrasting topics is one of Shil's areas of expertise and some of his most notable keynotes include:

    Missed Opportunities

This popular keynote poses one question - how many missed opportunities are you willing to accept as a result of avoiding public speaking? This talk has a focus on how to manage your nerves and is suitable for all audiences.

    Mob Justice

This powerful story provides a novel perspective of living in a developing country and the challenges which come with it, providing a stark comparison to the life we live in Australia. With a focus on accepting challenges through broader thinking, this talk is suitable for a variety of audiences.

    From Fear to Acceptance

Through his own journey, Shil's TEDx Talk challenged his audience to shift their mindset around some of the fears of Public Speaking. This inspiring talk has a focus on stepping out of your comfort zone and can be delivered to a variety of audiences.

Shil had the privilege of being asked to MC and deliver an opening address to Lark Doley DTM the Toastmasters Global International President with one of his speeches titled Eliminating Fear.

A Toastmasters qualified competent communicator and former President of Young Guns Toastmasters, Shil graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Commerce and holds a Double Major in Marketing and Management.

  • Testimonials

Here is what people have said about some of Shil’s coaching and performances

"Powerful, genuine, engaging - these words cannot even begin to fully describe Shil’s talk at TEDxATOPerth. Through sharing his own story, he inspired us all to walk the path to become the very best speaker everyone of us can be. From fear to acceptance - it is a journey for us all.
Not only that - Shil was a speaker coach for our TEDx event, selflessly giving his time and experience to help us improve our talks. The success of the day and the overwhelmingly positive comments from the audience certainly adds to his credit."

"Shil was my speaker coach for TEDxPerth 2018 and we nailed it! Shil assisted my message and delivery to be succinct whilst enhancing it’s impact. Thanks Shil, you’re a master!"

"Amazing speech, thank you for sharing your story with us. It was truly inspirational. Not your typical public speaking tips from a typical speaking guru. This felt authentic, natural and simply powerful!"

"Shil delivered such an engaging and relatable public speaking workshop for us, every single attendee learnt new skills and improved their speaking confidence dramatically in the two short hours he was in the studio working with them.
We have many mentors and speakers working with our community every year, and we see the impact that people with such genuine commitment to sharing their knowledge with people can make.
Thanks Shil, we really appreciate your time and can't wait to work a lot more with you in future"
